Korea’s 3-cushion sensation Choi Hyung-woo is finally on top of the world.

On the 30th, the Korea Billiards Federation announced that after the conclusion of the ‘2023 World 3-Cushion Billiards World Cup in Wegel, the Netherlands, on the 28th, Choi Sung-woo became the number one player in the 29th UMB World Ranking released by the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB) with 358 points.

At the Wegel World Cup, Choi ended the tournament with a 50:25 loss in 25 innings against an underdog in the round of 16, earning 18 ranking points for a final ranking of 13th. As the UMB World Rankings are calculated by including the results of the last eight World Cups, the results of the World 3-Cushion Billiards World Cup in Las Vegas in February last year were excluded and the results of the Wegel World Cup were included.

As a result, Choi has moved to the top of the world rankings with 358 points, one point ahead of world No. 2 Marco Zanetti (ITA) with 357 points. Third place went to Tovejon Bromdahl (SWE) with 354 points, and fourth place went to Dick Jaspers (NED), who won the World Cup in Wegel with 348 points.

With the win, Choi became the second South Korean player to reach the top of the world rankings in eight years and six months, after Choi Sung-won became the first on April 4, 2015.

Choi has been on a winning streak since winning his first World Cup title at the World 3-Cushion Billiards World Cup in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, last December. In March this year, he won the men’s 3-cushion title at the 11th Asian Carom Championships in Yanggu, Gangwon Province, followed by a runner-up finish at the World 3-Cushion Billiards World Cup in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in May.

In September, he finished third at the 75th World 3-Cushion Championships in Ankara, Turkey, despite not winning the title.

With such good results in various international tournaments, which are reflected in his world ranking, he became the second South Korean player in history to reach the top 10. 굿모닝토토 주소
