Gangwon drew 1-1 at home against Jeju in the 35th round of the Hana One Q K League 2023 at Gangneung Sports Complex at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 28. Gabriel scored the first goal, but conceded a late equalizer to Jeong-woon in stoppage time.

The draw was especially disappointing for Gangwon as their performance was much improved from the previous round. After Gabriel’s goal at the start of the second half, it looked like the victory was in Gangwon’s hands until they pressed hard and caught Jeju off guard.

However, Gangwon was hampered by their inability to capitalize on the ensuing chances. In the last minute of the second half, Jeju conceded an equalizer to Jeong-woon from a corner kick and settled for a point. They are now two points clear of 12th-placed Suwon Samseong, but could drop to 12th depending on the outcome of Suwon’s match against Daejeon on the 29th.

Speaking at the official post-match press conference, head coach Yoon Jung-hwan said, “The players did a good job as they prepared hard. It’s not that we lacked concentration, but the result was disappointing. I’m very upset and frustrated, but what can you do? I think we have to get over it. The players did their best,” he said.

On his overall performance, he said, “It could have been a lot easier if we had scored a goal when we had the last chance. It was a disappointing performance when we were winning,” he reflected.

“It’s important to get the momentum back quickly,” he said, adding that the team is determined to get good results in the remaining three games.
