Kim Min-jae continued his ironclad defense today. There’s a reason Thomas Tuchel keeps him in the starting lineup.
Bayern Munich cruised to a 7-0 victory over Bochum in the fifth round of the 2023-24 German Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, at 10:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday. After drawing 2-2 with Leverkusen on the road, Munich got back to winning ways with the victory to move above Stuttgart into first place.
Sven Ulreich, Matthias Der Licht, Joshua Kimmich, Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Erik Maxime Choupo-Moting, Alfonso Davies, Konrad Reimer, and Nusar Mazrouei started for Munich alongside Kim Min-Jae. Jamal Musiala, Thomas Muller, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, and Dayot Upamecano started on the bench.
It was notable that Der Licht started in place of Upamecano. Der Licht was a full-fledged starter last season, but this season he has spent a lot of time on the bench behind Kim and Upamecano. Even when he came on as a substitute, he played as a defensive midfielder. Despite interviews suggesting that he was unhappy, Tuchel chose to partner him with Kim Min-jae today.
Der Licht even scored. Munich dominated Bochum from the start. In the first minute of the game, Choupo-Moting had a shot on goal that went wide. In the fourth minute of the first half, Komang’s pass was converted by Choupo-Moting to take the lead. In the 12th minute, Davies was all alone in the Bochum defense. The defense blocked it and Kane finished the rebound. The Licht goal came next. Munich extended their lead in the 29th minute when Kimmich headed home a corner kick.
Sane’s goal made it 4-0 at halftime. At the start of the second half, Der Licht was substituted. Upamecano came on to partner Kim Min-Jae. Munich scored three more goals in the second half. Choupo-Moting won a penalty kick (PK) in the seventh minute of the second half. Kane stepped up to take the spot kick and made it a multi-goal game. In the 36th minute, Kane pushed forward and led a counterattack. He fed substitute Mathis Tell, who was charging down the left. Toure used a neat finish to score the team’s sixth goal and his third in the league 무지개토토.
Kane sneaked in a hat trick. Kane completed his hat trick in the 42nd minute, finishing off a cross from Mazrawi. The lead was now seven points. The video assistant referee (VAR) ruled it a goal. The game ended with a 7-0 victory for Munich.
According to soccer statistics outlet Couch Score, Kim has a rating of 7.7. Playing full-time, Kim made 10 clears, won 1 ground ball (1 attempt), won 7 aerial balls (8 attempts), had 85 touches, had a 94% pass success rate (81 attempts, 76 successful), and a 100% long pass success rate (3 attempts, 3 successful). He was dominant in both defense and buildup. There’s a reason Tuchel started Kim as a starter and rotated between Upamecano and Der Licht.
