Manchester United have revealed the shirt numbers of their new signings.
The Red Devils will face Arsenal in the fourth round of the 2023-24 English Premier League (EPL) at Emirates Stadium in London, England, on April 4 at 0:30 a.m. ET. United is 10th in the league with a record of 2-1-1 (6 points), while Arsenal is 6th in the league with a record of 2-1-1 (7 points).
Ahead of the game, the Red Devils unveiled the shirt numbers of their new signings. “With the summer transfer window now closed, we are pleased to announce five new players who will be joining the squad. Ahead of the game against Arsenal, we reveal which shirt numbers our new arrivals will wear,” the club said.
Rasmus Hojbjerg will wear the number 11. United’s number 11 is as iconic as the number 7. It has been worn by everyone from George Best to Ryan Giggs. However, the players who have worn the number 11 since Giggs have not been able to live up to the weight of the number. Adnan Januzaj, Anthony Marcial and Mason Greenwood have all worn the number. It will be interesting to see if Hooper can follow in Giggs’ footsteps.
Sergio Reguilon, who joined United on loan, wears the number 15. It’s a number that Marcel Xavier didn’t wear last season and has been worn by the likes of Andreas Pereira, Nemanja Vidic, and Daley Blind. Jonny Evans, who has signed a one-year contract, will wear the number 35 shirt. Evans, who played for United from 2007 to 2014, has previously worn the numbers 4, 23, and 6.
Alejandro Garnacho has also changed his number. Garnacho, who wore the number 49 until last season, has moved to the vacant number 17 following Fred’s departure. The number has been worn by the likes of Nani, Andy Cole, and Henrik Larsson in the past. In addition, new goalkeeper Altay Binder will wear the number 1.
However, one player’s number is still to be determined. That would be Sophien Amrabat. Arriving late in the transfer window, Amrabat signed for a fee of €10 million, with an option to buy for €20 million and an add-on of €5 million. However, the player’s registration has yet to be finalized and his shirt number will be revealed later.
Ahead of the Arsenal game, coach Eric ten Haag said: “Hojbjerg has had a good training session and is ready. He will be in the squad. He confirmed the impression we saw when we scouted him in training. He is well motivated to start, to be in the team. His fit is up, and we are happy with it. He will strengthen the squad and make a good impact on the team.” 토토사이트
On Leguillon, he added: “He is a very experienced player. He has played for several big clubs and has already played a lot of games in the La Liga Premier League. We’re happy with him because we’ve seen that he can play very intense soccer. With Luke Shaw and Tyrrell Malacia out for a long period of time with injuries, I think we’ve done a good job,” he added, pleased with the signing.
