The K League One Ulsan Hyundai has been fined 10 million won by the Korean Football Association.
The KFA held its 11th Penalty Committee on the 25th and explained why it imposed the sanction on Ulsan, saying, “During the match against Jeonbuk Hyundai on the 19th, while the referee was conducting a video assistant referee (VAR) on-field review, the home team, Ulsan, transmitted the game footage of the referee’s review to the public address system, and also exposed the contents of a cheering message containing an insulting expression to the opposing club at an on-field event before the match.” 스포츠토토
Article 25, paragraph 3 of the K League Baseball Competition Guidelines stipulates that “the home club must display an image indicating that the VAR is being read until the end of the reading, and the video of the relevant scene cannot be replayed on the scoreboard.
In addition, the K League Baseball Federation’s Disciplinary Standards for Each Type of Punishment allows clubs to impose sanctions if they slander an opposing team, which Ulsan did not do.
In the match, which attracted attention as the third Hyundai Derby of the year, Ulsan defeated Jeonbuk 1-0 thanks to Uhm Won-sang’s goal in the 26th minute of the second half, making it 2-1 in the Hyundai Derby this year.
A record 30,756 fans attended the Ulsan Munsoo Football Stadium, making it the first home game this year to exceed 30,000. “It was like being in Europe,” said Ulsan defender Jung Seung-hyun.
However, Ulsan’s behavior and mistakes were the icing on the cake. With the win, Ulsan became the first team to surpass 60 wins, but lost at Manor.
