Gyeonggi Sango scored a big run in the bottom of the first inning. Starting with a single by Park Si-hyun, the first three batters drew walks to open the scoring. The fifth batter, Lee Seo-joon, followed with a double to right-center field. A sacrifice fly by Im Jae-won and an RBI single by Shin Seung-min made it 5-0.

Masan Yongmago advanced to the quarterfinals with a 5-1 victory over defending champion Daejeon Go at Mokdong Stadium. Daejeon had a golden opportunity in the top of the seventh. A leadoff walk by Park Ju-jin, a single by Lee Do-hyun, and a sacrifice bunt by Kang Jae-young put runners on first and second. One hit would have tied the game. Yongmago called up their ace, Jang Hyun-seok. Jang struggled with his delivery and gave up a straight ball to Han Ki-chan. The bases were loaded.

Jang induced a grounder to shortstop against Park Bum-woo. Shortstop Jung Ji-sung caught the ball and threw to second baseman Jeon Tae-hyun, who threw to first for the out, but Park Bum-woo reached first. Jang Hyun-seok then got Lee Hyun-soo to fly out to left field to preserve the one-run lead. Yongmago added three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the deal.
